Trump's Medicaid cuts will devastate Michigan. And my opponent is cheering him on...

Donald Trump doesn’t care about the Constitution. He’s already made it clear.

In just the last few days he’s sent the military into American cities to shut down peaceful protests and has threatened to bypass Congress and singlehandedly drag us into another war in the Middle East.

And my opponent Jack Bergman has been right there supporting Trump every step of the way.

He has refused to face his own constituents but never misses a chance to echo Trump’s worst impulses. Whether it is attacking voting rights or ignoring abuses of power, Bergman has become exactly what this moment does not need:

Silent when it matters. Loyal when it is dangerous.

And while Trump lays the groundwork for authoritarian rule, more Michigan Republicans are racing to catch the next train to D.C. to shake his hand and prove their loyalty.

That includes our own House Speaker, who skipped out on his job here at home to fly to Washington and praise Trump’s latest federal budget.

Let me remind you what’s in that budget:

Cuts to Medicaid. Cuts to food assistance. Cuts that would hit 2.4 million people right here in Michigan.

That’s nearly one in every four of us. A child with asthma. A parent with diabetes. A neighbor fighting cancer. These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet. They are families trying to stay afloat in a broken healthcare system.

Another 1.5 million Michiganders rely on SNAP to put groceries on the table. That’s what Trump wants to gut next.

While billionaires hoard profits and call it freedom, working families are being told to prove they deserve to eat.

One of my siblings required years of medical attention when they were younger, and the medical bills nearly crushed our family.

I remember how it felt to see my parents doing everything right and still falling behind. That is why I will never call Medicaid an entitlement. It is a lifeline. It is the bare minimum this country can do to keep people from being broken by a system that puts profits above care.

And I’m telling you now. We don’t have to take this.

This campaign is about standing up to the cruelty. Standing up to the power grabs. And standing up for the people who always seem to get left behind.

If you’re with me, chip in now. Let’s flip this seat and send a message that we will not stand by while Trump and his MAGA cronies like my opponent rewrite the Constitution to serve the powerful and gut the safety net to punish the vulnerable.

Let’s get to work,

Wayne Stiles
