Let’s tell MAGA we don’t want their prison camp jobs.

ree

Have you ever wanted to run an internment camp? If so, ICE has the perfect job for you.

Let me tell you about something that’s just cropped up in Michigan that is so sick it’s had my blood boiling for days.

Lake County, Michigan – just south of our district – has a new jobs program.

It’s not a union factory. Not a tech hub. Not even a shopping mall.

Instead, Baldwin just opened the largest ICE detention center in the Midwest, run by GEO Group, a private prison corporation notorious for neglect and abuse with a rap sheet longer than a Michigan winter.

What makes this place particularly obscene is the fact that four years ago Illinois passed a law shutting down all immigrant detention centers in their state. ICE quickly found a workaround – just ship them into Michigan.

It appears our MAGA government’s plan is to round up farmworkers and immigrant families, lock them up in the middle of nowhere, and staff the place by hiring desperate rural workers who've been left behind by politicians who can’t be bothered to create real economic opportunities.

Hell of a choice, isn’t it?

Either struggle to pay your bills or take a job as a guard at what amounts to a modern-day concentration camp.

The Trump administration and GEO Group promise easy money – $50,000 sign-on bonuses – but at what cost?

Have we really fallen so low as a country that we would trade our souls for the privilege of keeping our neighbors locked behind bars?

Here’s a wild idea: instead of investing in cruelty, maybe we could invest in communities.

Good-paying jobs. Infrastructure. Education. You know, all that "radical stuff" that actually helps people instead of pitting us against each other.

Chip in today and help me flip this seat so we can create opportunities that honor the dignity of every worker in our district

I’m running for Congress because Democrats need to get off the back foot and fight back.

Donald Trump won't be around forever, but the toxic politics he's spread through the GOP aren't going away anytime soon.

Fighting against this one ICE facility isn't enough.

We need leaders who bring real ideas to the table, building an economy so strong and fair that decent, hardworking people won't even consider cruel jobs like these.

I'm ready to step up and challenge MAGA rubber stamp Jack Bergman, who’s spent years doing absolutely nothing for northern Michigan.

While he's busy taking orders from Trump and corporate lobbyists, I’ll be working to build a Michigan economy that benefits everyone.

Let's rebuild our crumbling roads and bridges, protect and clean up our Great Lakes coastline, expand solar and wind energy, and support skilled trades apprenticeship programs across our district.

Let’s put money into upgrading schools and enhancing healthcare access so families never have to settle for private prison jobs.

And let’s tell private prison corps like GEO Group – and the politicians in their pockets – exactly where they can shove their new jobs program.

Join us. Chip in today and let’s build something better, together.

Let’s get to work,

Wayne Stiles

Democrat for Congress
